The Apogee-sponsored Celebration Walk raised £12K for Salisbury Hospice Charity, an organisation that provides palliative care to people living with serious illness.
The challenge of printing directly onto ice was set to Apogee Graphics by ICEBAR London, located in the Heddon Street food quarter just off Regent Street in the heart of London.
The world’s first attempt was gladly accepted and Apogee Graphics set about modifying their Jetrix KX7 stationary flatbed printer, which is capable of printing directly onto substrates up to 100mm in depth and features 6 picoliter head nozzles for razor sharp edge-to-edge HD printing.
Apogee successfully delivered on brief by printing multiple layers of white ink and varnish to ‘seal’ in the design and protect it against the elements, withstanding temperatures of -5% all year round. The project won “Creative use of a substrate” award at the Print, Design and Marketing Awards and showcased a small sample of what the graphic design and creative print division at Apogee is capable of producing.
