The standardisation and consolidation of SMBC’s London-based print fleet has ensured the fleet is easier and cheaper to manage.

 

The Background

SMBC recognised there was room for improvement at their London office with regards to their print strategy. The company went to tender to find a managed services company that could provide excellent value for money. 

 Alongside cost and process efficiencies, key for SMBC was to implement a solution which would enable staff from its US office to be able to securely log-in and print when working from their London office.

 

The Solution

Apogee’s independence firstly allowed us to select the most suitable hardware tailored to SMBC’s requirements. A standardised fleet consisting of over 110 devices including 40 Canon MFDs were delivered and installed to SMBC’s London office.

Apogee’s Professional Services team, specialists in formulating and delivering technology solutions, identified Equitrac print management software as being the solution to connecting SMBC’s US staff to their London-based print network.

In a nutshell, Equitrac holds documents in a secure print server until the users authenticate themselves at the network printer of their choice, anywhere across departments or geographies.

 

The Outcome

The standardisation and consolidation of SMBC’s London-based print fleet has ensured the fleet is easier and cheaper to manage. SMBC are projected to save £800k over the three year contract.

Also instrumental in eliminating print costs is SMBC’s new print management software. Equitrac allows SMBC to monitor, measure, and manage network wide document output. Using the print-usage data, staff are able to easily and accurately allocate costs to specific individuals and departments.

Significantly, Apogee’s Professional Services team were able to successfully migrate all of SMBC’s 250 US-based staff to their London print network. As a result, US staff are now able to easily and securely print when working in the UK.

Furthermore, with Apogee as their single provider for all of their print requirements, SMBC are enjoying an outstanding level of service to ensure device productivity and up-time is maximised at all times. Apogee supply parts such as toner both on-site at their London office as well as at various London stores located around the city.

As SMBC’s trusted provider, we are now looking to deliver even greater cost and process efficiencies going forward. Apogee’s team of specialists have begun looking towards incorporating scanning and eCopy solutions to move SMBC away from inefficient and manual processes.
