Consider Your Devices End-of-Life

Throughout a printer’s life, it amasses business critical data on its hard drive device (HDD).

Green printing to improve your sustainability credentials

When organisations dispose of the device, it is essential that prior to the disposal, the data is properly cleansed to avoid it being accessed by any unauthorised or unintended persons. Failure to protect the data may result in a serious breach of security and the potential of a fine from the ICO.

Remembering these six simple do and don’ts could prevent your organisation from facing a major security risk!

DO’S

  • Contact the service provider

  • Ensure equipment remains in a controlled area

  • Disable any remote access settings

DON’T

  • Attempt to remove, recover or tamper with the HDD yourself

  • Remove or dispose of the device

  • Send the device or HDD to a third party

Apogee Secure combats all potential risks when a printer reaches the end of its life, providing confidence in the security of the data stored. For more information, please contact Apogee today on 0345 300 9955.
